MULANJE CELEBRATES IN STYLE
As most people in the country continue to live their lives is such poverty, this is on the contrary for those in the district of Mulanje. Tiyese centre is bearing the fruits from joining the Federation as they rip what they sowed.
Members of the Federation from Mulanje at the Tiyese centre have mentioned how they were living under poverty. Lifestyles and living conditions were poor but all this has changed. They are all living better lives.
“We rented a piece of land that we have used to grow maize and chicken peas of which the later, we are yet to harvest. Right now we have harvested maize worth of ten bags. We sell these products and use the money to contribute to our savings group and we also use the money to buy some groceries for the elderly and needy in our society” said the savings group leader, Gladys Matimati.
Helping other members of the society should show that these members were now able to live independently. Purchasing all necessities was not much a hassle any more. They even had the change to give back to the community as a token of gratitude and an act of kindness.
On 3 April 2011, members of Tiyese had a ceremony where they presented gifts to a fellow member Eunice Kamao. Some of the gifts were buckets, baskets and cloths, just to mention a few. This is usually done to assist those facing different problems in their families.
The guest of honour at the gathering was the village Chief, Liwankhwa.
